Much of the time my job description is that of "hiring coach" (and I love that roll).

It's so important to take a moment, step back and "consider" the candidate before the hire.... after the hire is too late.


I see this all too often. The person making the hiring decisions is so "star struck" by what is on the resume that they can't keep an open mind & look at the candidate as a whole objectively. In these cases it works out so much better when someone from the outside can step in & bring to light the realities of the candidates pluses & minuses. I think this is a good example of why turnover can be so high- poor hiring decisions.
